The Compton NAACP and the Concerned Citizens of Compton Co-Host a Candidates’ Forum

COMPTON, CA -The Compton NAACP and the Concerned Citizens of Compton Inc. are holding a collaborative Community Candidates’ Forum ahead of the June 2nd City of Compton Election. The event will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at St. Philip Lutheran Church.
As long-standing non-profit pillars in the community, both organizations are dedicated to providing an unbiased, professional platform for civic engagement. The forum offers registered voters a vital opportunity to hear directly from those seeking office before casting their ballots.
“Our mutual goal is to ensure voters are informed and have the chance to meet the individuals who wish to lead our city,” said LaTanya Ganter, Vice President of the Compton NAACP and Executive Board Member for the Concerned Citizens of Compton Inc.

Mayoral Candidates: Emma Sharif, Incumbent Mayor and Andre Spicer, Candidate for Mayor
Council District 2: Anthony Perry, Bennie Tinson, Skyy Fisher, and Darrell Carter
Council District 3: Jonathan Bowers-Incumbent
City Clerk: Lynn Boone
City Treasurer: Brandon Mims-Incumbent and Maxwell Burke

These organizations are the backbone of our civic engagement, and I deeply respect their commitment to providing an unbiased platform for our residents,” said Tinson.
He added, “My campaign for District 2 is built on the belief that every voter deserves to hear directly from their representatives. I look forward to sharing my vision for a safer, more prosperous Compton and, more importantly, listening to the concerns of the people I will serve.”
Forum Schedule:
- 3:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.: Candidates for Council Districts 2 and 3, City Clerk, and City Treasurer.
- 4:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.: Candidates for City Mayor.
The event is hosted on behalf of Paulette Gipson (Compton NAACP), Richard Earl (Concerned Citizens of Compton, Inc.) and their respective memberships. Both organizations appreciate the candidates’ desire to make a meaningful difference in the City of Compton.
